Sacrificial anodes are the parts that are supposed to disappear: they corrode so the hull, running gear, and underwater steel do not. When they are spent and not replaced, the protection is gone and the expensive metal starts giving up material instead.
We inspect anodes in the water, grade how much is left, and replace the ones that are depleted or detached. On vessels that is hulls, shafts, struts, and rudders; on fixed structures it is the underwater steel that keeps a facility standing. Either way, the goal is the same: keep the cathodic protection system doing its job.
Checking anodes on a regular interval is cheap insurance against corrosion damage that is slow, quiet, and costly to fix. We log what we find and replace so you have a running record of anode condition between services.
How it works
Our process
Simple, careful, and clear from start to finish.
- 01
Inspect anodes
A diver locates and grades each anode to see how much sacrificial material remains.
- 02
Identify replacements
We flag anodes that are depleted, detached, or failing to make good contact.
- 03
Replace in the water
Spent anodes are removed and new ones installed and secured for proper electrical contact.
- 04
Log condition
Every anode inspected and replaced is documented for your maintenance record.
